A Mat-ter of Protection
Mats, generally made of fabric materials, are often rectangular in shape and are placed on flat surfaces for different reasons. Mats placed along the entrance and doorways are called door mats, and serve the purpose of allowing people to wipe or scrub the soles of their footwear before entering the house. There are also mats that are placed on the surface of the floor to protect it from scratches and damages caused by friction from walking and moving furniture. Floor mats are sometimes placed on the floor to protect what is above it rather than the floor itself. The likes of gel pro floor mats, rubber mats and bath mats are used to avoid slipping when walking on wet floor.
Mats can also be considered things that help us maintain a surface’s clean state. Some mat varieties are made of materials that attract dust and dirt. Thus, aside from protecting what is under or over it, a mat can also be counted on to keep it from accumulating dirt. Another thing that home owners can count on when it comes to cleaning dirt and dust from surfaces is the vacuum cleaner. Invented out of the need of having a device that can suck up dust particles and dirt from the floor, vacuum cleaners are now available in different varieties and sizes. Different models are also available from miele vacuum cleaners as well as in any other manufacturers.
There are vacuum cleaners small and portable enough to be used in cleaning sofas, furniture and window blinds while other vacuum types are designed to such even wet dirt and liquid. The choice of vacuum configuration is entirely up to the user’s preferences and needs.
