Mice and rats can be so pesky to have in the house. This is the reason why they are considered pests. They tend to eat though foods stored in the cupboards, chew in almost everything they can including our clothes, woods and some other parts of the house. Worst, they tend to be the carriers of some diseases. Leptospirosis is one of the diseases know to be brought by mice and rats. This disease can be obtained when water, which is contaminated by animal urine such as rats and mice enter the human body through breaks in the skin such as a wound, or through the eyes and with other mucous membranes.

Although not everybody knows this, getting rid of rat and mice infestations can be eco-friendly. This is fortunate for people who don’t want to result to buying rodent poisons or setting up traps to kill the rats and mice. Simply by planting varieties of mint family plants in your garden, you can create a natural rodent barrier for your house. You can also put some sprigs of fresh spearmint or peppermint inside your cupboard or in places you suspect that mice frequent. The smell of the sprigs will deter the rodents.
